Welcome Back

Forging a New Chapter

Bringing Hope and Help to Those Struggling with the Stresses of Life

The Heart’s Way, Imagery and Insights

Well folks, here I am again! It’s been a few years since we’ve seen each other. But, I’m Forging a New Chapter. I hope you’re ready to join me. Whether we are becoming reacquainted or meeting for the first time, I’m pleased to be here! The Heart’s Way, Imagery and Insights had it’s birth in 2015 and was up and running for a few years. Then enter…life! During those years I was working full-time and starting up my private practice in Clinical Social Work. I had a few bouts with illness and some issues with chronic pain. At the time it was just all too much to keep the blog going.

Fast forward to today

It’s now 2021, and I’m forging a new chapter. A lot has happened in this world of ours, and with me personally. I retired from my private practice in June 2019. In September 2019 I had my second knee replacement which, unfortunately resulted in numerous complications as well as more surgery. (Thankfully I am beginning to get back on my feet). And then, in 2020, for all of us…Covid-19 hit.

What can I offer to you?

Even with all of the STUFF I’ve been through, I believe that I do have value to offer to you. You, who are stressed to the max, feeling isolated and wondering how to return to some sense of normalcy. You, who are trying to face the future but seeing much uncertainty. I’m in the same boat as you. But I also have 38 years of experience as a mental health counselor, working with people of all ages through their life struggles. I loved my work. Even though I don’t go into the “office” to see clients anymore, I still have a desire to help people. To reach out to connect with those who may be hurting, anxious, or depressed. I’ve learned so much about people and life in my years of counseling, and I’d feel honored to help a few more if I can.

How can I help?

I’m all about looking at life from a humanistic viewpoint. In 38 years of working in the mental health field I never tired of hearing people’s stories. Every story is unique because each person is unique. I believe that there are many ways to be helpful, so you’ll probably find The Heart’s Way, Imagery and Insights to be a rather unique blog. We’ll explore a variety of topics in a variety of ways. From traditional blog posts, to music therapy (like exploring music therapy playlists such as “Feel Good” Guitar Music). To guided imagery (check out my page – What is Guided Imagery?) and other creative endeavors. And because I couldn’t practice without being touched by all of the wonderful people who came to me for counseling, this blog will also include some personal stories of my life and learning.

What’s next?

Life can be difficult, but life can also be good. Oh so good. Let’s talk of all things serious, contemplative, fun-loving, and worthy. If this sounds interesting, I would be honored if you would join me on this renewed journey. Blessings to you all!

Thank you Julie! There’s something inside me that keeps telling me continue to try to help people (clients and clinicians) beyond my retirement. So, now, I have not one but TWO blogs. This one for the general public and the other one for clinicians. I really do appreciate ALL of your support…past, present, and future! Hopefully we can find a way to keep in touch!
